Watch The Trailer For 'Here to be Heard: The Story of The Slits'
A new feature-length film chronicling the lifespan of game-changing group The Slits is nearing completion, but is crowd-sourcing for the funds to make it to the finish line. The film, entitled Here to be Heard: The Story of The Slits compiles tour footage, photographs and interviews to build a story of the London-born punky-reggae group which formed in 1976 and quickly took hold of ears around the globe.
The film is the legacy of lead vocalist Ari Up, who before her death in 2010 had visualised a film that would take the band's story and the "struggle and passion of herself and the beautifully strong women around her" to the masses. After she passed, her friend Jennifer Shagawat took up the task and enlisted director William E. Badgely to make the documentary, which is due out later this year.
